Dallas based Valero Cheats Workers Out of Wages with Labor Practices

While the massive refining company depicts itself as "refining" the way it does business and providing a worker-friendly environment, the reality is shockingly different. "When it comes to its employees," adds Mr. Wittels, "the only thing Valero has refined is how best to fleece its employees out of their wages."

Brought by three current and former California employees, Dorothy McCarthy, Sarndra McKnight, and Janice Clifton, the class and collection action seeks to represent thousands of similarly underpaid Valero employees through the United States, said Weinberg Law Firm, Labor Lawyer Dallas.

A Los Angels Police Chief caught DUI

Mr. Baker's blood alcohol level, according to court documents, was almost two and a half times the legal limit -- and that result was rendered two hours after the accident. His apparently slurred remark to the arresting officer -- that he had downed a couple of beers -- is highly dubious. With a blood alcohol level of .19 (Virginia's legal limit is .08), Mr. Baker would have had to have had much, much more to drink than a couple of beers. (According to standard charts, a man of Mr. Baker's weight, 210 pounds, would need 10 drinks to reach a blood alcohol level of .19.) So on top of getting behind the wheel in an impaired state, and then, after the accident, failing a battery of sobriety tests, Mr. Baker seems to have lied to the cops, said Michael Bialys, Los Angeles DUI lawyer.

Fireman Sues New York over catastrophic injury

"After working diligently to release the victim from under the smoldering debris, while on his hands and knees, Kedroski immediately and without delay dragged the 180 to 200 pound victim out through the building into safety," said the lawsuit.

Kedroski and his lawyer, Ann O'Connell, assert that state law requires the city, as his employer, to pay the entire premium of his city health insurance plan for the firefighter, his spouse and for each of his dependant children. His two children are under the age of 18. The lawsuit also points out the fact that the Des Plaines Firefighters Pension Fund Board awarded Kedroski a line-of-duty disability pension, said John Q. Kelly, a New York catastrophic injury lawyer.

Will Obama Keep His Promise to Federal Whistleblowers?

Former federal air marshal Spencer Pickard says he was forced to resign from his job as a federal air marshal after he helped warn the public in 2006 of dangerous flaws in aviation security procedures. "I'm here because the people need to know if the terrorists do their job right and prepare like they did before 9/11, they will figure out a way to win because we are not undercover," whistleblower lawyer Los Angeles said in a 2006 ABC News 20/20 broadcast. ABC spoke to dozens of current and former air marshals as part of a three-month investigation which found they all had to stay in the same hotels, abide by a dress code banning jeans and sneakers and follow boarding procedures forcing them to identify themselves while passengers look on. The Federal Air Marshal Service subsequently dropped the dress code and hotel requirements.
